Arizona Elopement Ceremonies
About Mike Kennedy ...
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and allowing me the opportunity to
tell you a little bit more about myself.
As I often say, I am almost a Phoenix native. I was born in York, Pennsylvania, but
have lived in Phoenix since I was 6 years-old. All of my schooling, including the
University of Arizonago catshas been in Arizona. My degree is in social work,
and I have always been drawn to the helping professions. This is undoubtedly why I
love my ability to play such a significant role in uniting loving couples as husband
and wife. I am married to a wonderfully creative woman, Barb, who has been my continual
source of inspiration and encouragement. My own background is one of having not been
raised in a religious
environment but rather coming to my own Christian beliefs in the early 1980s. I was
very fortunate to be raised in an exceptionally loving home by two parents who, to this
day, remain in my eyes the epitome of what a good marriage is all about. This is why
I never impose any religious stipulations on the couples I marry.
I have been an ordained wedding officiant since the early 1990s and have performed ceremonies
in virtually every venue you could imagine including all of the finest resorts as well as
numerous backyard weddings. This vast experience has brought me to what I feel are
some very important conclusions and observations. The first one being that the two
most important aspects of marriage are love and commitment rather than religious
affiliation. I am always amazed when I meet couples who tell me their minister will not
perform their ceremony because they are already living together. I simply can not see
the sense in that and am delighted that their love has grown to a point where they are
now ready to seal their relationship through marriage.
Another very important consideration in selecting the person to officiate at your
ceremony is whether or not they have experience. As in everything in life, we all have to start
somewhere; but unfortunately too many couples hand this duty to a close friend or
relative simply because he or she knows them so well. As tempting as this may be,
I have heard time and time again from photographers, wedding coordinators, and other
professionals that the person stumbled over the ceremony, forgot the nuptial kiss or some
other integral component. I strongly encourage you to choose someone who is well
versed in wedding ceremonies whether that is myself or one of the other fine
officiants in the Valley.
I sincerely wish you all the best that life has to offer and once again congratulate you
on having found that special person to share your life.
